Insanity Workout Schedule

The Insanity workout schedule is my favorite home cardio workout, and the Insanity Workout Schedule is one I have almost memorized since I’ve gone through the workout several times in the last few years. Insanity was created by Shaun T and produced and distributed by BeachBody. Shaun T is the star and presence in this workout, and his energy, demeanor, and the way he gets you to “Push It” is amazing. Even just watching the infomercial for this you will understand how infectious his energy really is. I am not the most energetic person, but in these workouts he enables me to really dig deeper to find those extra bits of energy to propel me through these insane workouts.

This workout is well known for being one of, if not the, hardest cardio focused home workout routine. From the first month where each session averages 40 minutes, to the even more insane second month with the average workout clocking in at an hour, you will sweat, you will finish curled up on the floor, but the rest of the day will be utter bliss as you will know you had an amazing workout. No excuses, buy this workout, it will change your life, it will get you in shape, you will lose weight, and you will feel amazing.

Who Is Insanity Workout Schedule For?

The Insanity Workout Schedule is a very tough schedule to get into when you are not in great shape. As this is an earlier Beachbody workout there isn’t a modifier, so if you find the need to slow down or if you need a breath, you will need to modify on your own. Modification can be something like jogging in place, or just moving around the room. Do not pause the DVD, and do not stop moving. Your goal is to complete the workout and if you pause or stop moving it will be harder to jump back in, and as well your body will not become conditioned to the pace of the workout.

If you have worked out before, and are in decent shape, then this is the workout that you need to try. The Insanity Workout Schedule consists of workouts 6 days a week, with an optional stretch day on Sunday. The typical structure is 3 days of workouts, a recovery day, then 2 more workouts, and a rest/stretch day. You should expect your body to be sore the first week or so until it gets used to the workouts, and then expect to be in shock the second month when Shaun T really pushes the insanity.

What are the Classic Workouts?

The classic workout is the one that everyone starts with.  This is by no means an easy workout, in fact most people will think the warm up is insane, then they realize there is another 30 minutes to go.  Expect to be dripping in sweat, and expect the fat to melt away if you can stick to these workouts.  We review the classic in more detail here.

What are the Doubles Workouts?

If you find Classic to not be enough, and you must already be insane, check out the Deluxe which adds in a few tougher workouts in the second month.  Full review here.

Insanity Deluxe Workout Schedule

Insanity Deluxe Workout Schedule

The Insanity Deluxe Workout Schedule has the same exact first month as the Insanity Classic Schedule, but in the second month you will sub in some workouts like the Insane Abs and Interval Sports Training.

Insane Abs

Insane Abs is truly insane, it’s so insane that the first time I did the workout I felt every single muscle in my core for several days, and not in a good way. Long term it’s a great workout, but be prepared to be hurting afterwards.

Max Interval Sports Training

If you want to kick it up a notch and really go for it, the Deluxe schedule is where it’s at. While month 1 is the same as the original insanity schedule, month 2 will blow it out of the water with the additions of the Max Interval Sports training and Insane Abs.

Insantity Classic Schedule

Insanity Classic Workout Schedule

Insanity Classic Workout Schedule

The Insanity Classic Workout Schedule consists of the typical 60 day workout with the first month being more of a “get ready” type of month to gear you up for the more insane second month. I remember the first time doing Insanity and the first week was a blur filled with many moments of “Is he Serious?” type questions at the intensity of the workouts. Then when I went into the second month I was even more blown away as they were so much longer and so much harder. But when finished I was extremely proud of myself and in the best cardio shape I had been in since playing high school ball.

The Insanity Classic Workout Schedule is a 6 day a week workout lasting for 60 days, the first four weeks rotate between the “easier” workouts that clock in at around 40 minutes, then there is a recovery week, followed by another 4 weeks of even longer workouts.

The typical Shaun T Insanity workout schedule consists of a warm up of 6 moves for 30 seconds each, with 3 times through, for a sweat inducing 9 minute workout. Then he will have you stretch for around 6 minutes or so. Once warmed up and stretched out Shaun T will start your insanity. For me the warm up and stretch could be counted as a good workout! After the workout you will do a nice cool down.
